Arena Stage Voices of Now
Work with professional actors during a series of fall workshops and have the opportunity to audition for an ensemble cast that will produce an original play to be performed at Arena Stage in Washington, DC and at Robinson in mid-May, 2019. Ensemble audition and commitment to rehearsal schedule required during the 2nd semester. This program does not conflict with the musical production or theatre sports/impov.

Art Club
Drawing, collage, and more!  Enjoy an open studio with guidance from an art teacher. There is no cost for this program and all supplies are provided.  Open to all students. Sign-up each Thursday you plan to stay after as space is limited to 30 students.

Broadcast Media Club 
Join the new TV Broadcast Club!
Students will learn to produce a periodic news show and create story packages using modern broadcasting equipment and techniques.

Capital One Coders Club
Capital One is offering a 10-week program to expose students to technology and foster a focus on software engineering.  Each week students will work through a lesson that teaches fundamentals of software engineering through hands-on learning and mobile app development. 
Spring program has filled with students wait listed from the fall application period.

Ceramics Club
An introduction into the basic techniques of hand building and wheel work.  Multiple approaches to surface decoration will also be explored and ranging from primitive pit-firing to cold finishes.  Students will learn to create functional pottery and sculptural forms while studying the aesthetics of historical and modern day masters.

Computer Engineering Club | VA STAR
The purpose of this club is to teach computer engineering skills in a service based setting. Participants will rebuild computer hardware components in order to donate reusable laptop computers to those in need in the school community.

Drama Musical Production
Participate in a full scale musical production under the direction of Ms. Hard, the middle school theater arts teacher.  Optional workshops will be offered to prepare students for the audition process. ​ All students are welcome!  Attend the interest meeting on Thursday, 9/27 to learn more.

French Club
French Club meets once a month from 2:45-4:25 in D-214.  Meeting dates are posted on the French Club board in the D-pod and are open to all students enrolled in a French class or by permission of the sponsor.  (Meetings open to the Robinson community are posted on the blue-/gold calendar.) Activities include crepe-making, a holiday concert, build and edible French monument competition, and holiday celebrations.

Jazz Band
Learn the many styles of jazz, including rock, swing, and Latin.  Jazz Band auditions will be held during RAISE - dates to be determined.  Please see Mrs. Einuis in Room 402 to obtain the audition music.

Let's Cook . . . After School!
Experience a cooking and nutrition education class with a Registered Dietitian and personal chef from My Chef Shirley, LLC.  The hands-on cooking classes will teach students how to make seasonal and nutritious recipes using fruits and vegetables while creating fun memories with  friends in the kitchen!  Students will learn about seasonality, beneficial nutrients, and mindfulness.  As students move through the course they will also learn about safety and sanitation, vital knife skills, food tasting and seasoning, and various culinary techniques.  Students meet for seven, 90 minute, cooking classes.  Space is limited to 18 students for each of the fall and spring sessions.  Seven meetings! 
Fee: $20; cash or check payable to Robinson Secondary School.

Robotics Program
Lego Mindstorm kits will be used to introduce students to basic programming as well as problem solving strategies. This program will involve students in the development, building and programming of a LEGO Mindstorm robot. Students will work hands-on in teams to design, build, program and document their progress. Topics may include motor control, gear ratios, torque, friction, sensors, timing, program loops, logic gates, decision-making, timing sequences, propulsion systems and binary number systems.

Speech and Debate will help students learn how to better themselves as a public speaker, and also help them with their researching skills. We provide a safe environment where you are able to be creative in the types of speeches you want to deliver, as well as help refine debate skills.
